This kind of examination has not been done at all by limiting the handling of mercury though a result recently at the time of went up the accuracy of the measurement hardware is waited. Non-exhaust examination is physically impossible in the meaning of the truth except that the material where air doesn't merge like mercury is used. It doesn't strictly enter the state of non-exhaust if it thinks about the permeability of the air of the membrane. Therefore, not being made to the standard is a current state in non-exhaust non-drain condition though three axis compression examination on the exhaust non-drain condition and the exhaust drain condition of the unsaturated soil is made standard. Non-exhaust examination is done as accuracy is turning over, easy even if an active control that produces the state of non-exhaust and the state of equivalence is used and mercury is not used or it is the examined one in the present study. An active control in the present study is a method of calculating the change in the air pressure by measuring the alteration in volume of the test piece with the differential pressure instrument that uses a double cell, and using the ideal gas equation, and making this air pressure act on the test piece. It is thought that the state of non-exhaust non-drain condition and equivalence can be produced by this active control. It was done [no] load drably examination and to examine it repeatedly the shearing by the use of an active control, and examined the difference of the test outcome by the presence of an active control. The conclusion by the examination is shown as follows. 1.Because the amount of the leakage of the pore air is small, the shearing examination in a short time becomes near the state of non-exhaust. 2.A decrease in pore air pressure ua by the pore air's penetrating the membrane in the long duration test and infiltrating the cell water occurs. 3.The case with an active control is not related at the shearing speed, becomes an equivalent result, and becomes almost the same result as the shearing examination in a short time. 4.Pore air pressure ua decreases because of the leakage of the pore air, Pnet rises, test piece strength goes up, and the volume strain goes out greatly, too. 5.Changing [sakushon] is small though pore air pressure ua and pore water pressure uw are received the influence of an active control and have changed. This is because of ua's influencing uw, and changing subordinating it. 6.When a ceramic disk of a high AEV value is used, it is necessary to examine it by a low-speed shearing because of the delay of the pore water pressure transmission. As for non-exhaust examination by an active control, an actual state of non-exhaust and the state of equivalence are produced, and it has been understood that it is an effective technique to do non-exhaust examination from the above-mentioned result.
